The Silk Keffiyeh Project...
ແຄະເຟຍຜ້າໄໝ, is a textile-art project aimed at sparking discussion and deeper reflection among the Lao and Southeast Asian diaspora about our relationship with the Palestinian people. In both SEA and Palestinian cultures, weaving and textiles are unique, integral parts to our identities. This project hopes to bridge the gap between the two through this common cultural pillar. Using fine Lao silk instead of Palestinian cotton, the Silk Keffiyeh is a powerful representation of the interwoven anti-imperialist struggles faced by the Lao people of the past and the Palestinian people of today.

Mae Bouakham and her staff of expert Lao weavers and vetted Palestinian mutual-aid. This project gives Lao weavers control of their own labor and connects them directly with their customers, instead of relying on up-selling middle-men.
Made-to-Order Keffiyeh
Our silk keffiyehs, ແຄະເຟຍຜ້າໄໝ, are handwoven by Master Weavers on traditional Lao floor looms with Lao supplementary weft technique. For each keffiyeh, every one of its 3,200 silk threads come from Lao locally-raised silkworm cocoons, then spun, dyed, warped, threaded, and woven by hand. The traditional fishnet motif on our keffiyehs integrate the Lao UNESCO heritage symbol of the woven naga--water dragons who give hope and protection during difficult times.
